Relaxing productively.
Or producing lackadaisically
Taking a vacation is a tricky thing when you love what you do. There’s a constant drive to produce that won’t leave you alone. At the same time, there’s the limitations of mind and spirit that flesh is heir to.
This past week I had the privilege of escaping to a lifelong favorite vacation spot in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. And while I departed with all kinds of intentions to produce great works with what I anticipated to be great oceans of time, once I was there I confess that the spirit had left me and I couldn’t bring myself to do much beyond rest. After much lamentation, I decide to accept the council of those closest to me and resign myself to rest.
I did however, make good inroads on the next chapter of The Canon of Vangel.
I got to spend some important quality time with my Significant Otter 🦦
Got to take in a drag show by friend and phenom Sutton Lee Seymour.
I ate well on the Taco Tour by Vallarta Eats! Ask for Karla! She’s the best!
And I caught up with my ol’ pal Lester! We’re all so glad he finally found his tail!
I am tanned, rested, and ready to rock! Which is a good thing, because I will be selling books and taking names at Planet Comicon in Kansas City, MO this coming weekend!
I will be occupying table 532 in Artist Alley! It’s dangerous to go alone, so take this!
Also the launch of The Canon of Vangel, Chapter 6 is just a few weeks away! Get notified when we launch so you don’t miss a thing!
Stop by, say hi, and ask me for more recommendations in Puerto Vallarta! Fist bumps, friendly conversation, and meaningful eye contact are free for showing up!
Hope I see you out there!
And if I don’t, be good!
But not too good 😉

Looks like an absolutely lovely vacation! Sometimes sitting back and doing nothing is part of the creative process!
